Well, my throat does feel much better, by and large. I suspect that with the aid of herbal tea and cough drops, I may just be able to make it through the day without drawing on that six hours of sick time remaining to me. I may end up having to use some of them tomorrow if the doctor's appointment comes through. (I'd like to do it today, but the nurse has not yet gotten back to me after I left a message on her machine at 8, and I'm not sure I'll hear from her by the time I have to go to work.)

An amusing thing happened to me today. This morning my Dad, [livejournal.com profile] marktime (who really should post more of his writings to his journal), sent me one of the anecdotes that he writes. This one had to do with tasting Keiller's Dundee Marmalade in his youth, and his nostalgia thereof (since he'd never been able to find it since moving away from a region whose groceries carried it). "Well," thought I, "they probably aren't cognizant that you can find anything for sale on the Internet. I'll just take a look..." And sure enough, I found an e-store offering bottles of the concoction.

Thinking I would astonish and surprise Dad, I had just placed my order for two jars, to be shipped to his house...when he emailed me to note that he had found another place offering it and placed an order of his own. So I've gone ahead and emailed the store to cancel my own, now unnecessary, order...and it's just as well that if the marmalade is to be bought for him, he's the one spending the money on it. I don't think I ever will get used to having parents who actually know stuff about the Internet. :)

Well, might as well get on about hunting up breakfast and prepping for work.

Work has gone fairly well today...the throat's still mildly sore, but it hasn't interfered overmuch with taking the calls. I've just had plenty of peppermint tea on hand, as well as about a quart of orange juice, to keep the ol' throat moist.

I finally got through to the doctor's office...though I'm confident that I really don't need to go at the moment. And it's a good thing, too...because I've not seen that particular doctor in long enough that I qualify as a "new patient," and they have to set up a special "new patient" appointment for me...and 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 11th is the soonest they could set an appointment that would mesh with my work schedule.

In other news of annoying delays, I called the local Pepsi bottler and asked when the new iTunes music giveaway bottles that were advertised during the Super Bowl would be hitting the area. The answer was "the week after next." Oh well, at least now I know when to start cap hunting.

Back to work, and a good book.
