Here I am again. I realize I haven't written anything here for several days, and I guess I've been remiss in not doing that. It's so easy to get out of the habit of writing a little bit every day, and harder to get started again because you know you've forgotten stuff.

Trying to recall the important events in my life of the past few days: a few days ago, Wes (the landlord) was around, drilling out the lock of the apartment next door. The folks who had lived in it left a lot of stuff lying around, most of it junk—but there was a fairly nice easy chair left in the apartment, and Wes helped me move it into my apartment. Maybe it's a little worn, and maybe the seat is sunk a little in the middle, but it's a good two orders of magnitude more comfortable than any other furniture I have ever possessed. It's all good.

Work, Matrix, stuff )

Neighbor kids are playing outside in the big driveway/parking lot expanse. Some of them have been playing with my garden hose, which would explain why I've been finding it turned on every so often. Their mother gave them a good talking-to for that.

Anyway, I think I'm gonna see about scaring up some breakfast now, maybe write more later.

Just had my friend Joe Moore over for a few hours. Watched an episode of Ninpuu Sentai Hurricangers, an episode of Machine Robo Rescue, then four episodes of Kamen Rider 555, which Joe seemed to enjoy. After that, I showed him a humor video called "Your Name Here" that I downloaded from the Internet Archive, the trailer for an anime called Beyond the Clouds, and a couple episodes of The Animatrix. He's going to get to see Matrix Reloaded on Monday, so I figured he'd want to be ready for it.

Joe asked me about the possibility of his moving into the guest room. I really wasn't sure what to say to that, so I hastily demurred, saying that I really wanted to keep the room as a guest room to have guests overnight. In truth, I suppose I really ought to consider his offer. It's not like I'm going to have houseguests even 1% of the time, after all...and it might well be good to have a second resident to help with the rent—not to mention having Joe around when I wanted to show him some anime or whatever.

But on the other hand, I'm used to living alone. I like having this space to myself, being able to do what I want without having to worry about other people. I like knowing that if I want to, I can do pretty much anything I want—even lounge around the apartment buck naked if I feel like it as long as I keep the shades down and the curtains drawn. And as nice as this place is, I'm not sure it could stay that way for long if Joe moved in. The apartment's in good shape now, as the one slob who lives in it can manage to force himself to keep it looking nice. But if it had two in it? That might just be too much.

Anyway, Joe's headed on out now to get ready for work, and I really should go and do the laundry.
