Well, I certainly didn't expect this. I couldn't sleep (again), so I drove down to the Krispy Kreme, figuring that at this hour there surely wouldn't be anyone in line, and I could zip in, get a few doughnuts, and zip back home within about half an hour...more fool I. It's 2:10 in the morning, and there are 7 cars ahead of me in line...and it's not moving very fast at all. On the other hand, the cops who're still in the parking lot said it's better than it was, and I have to agree there. Good thing I brought the Clie along.

I wonder why I'm having this insomnia. Could I perhaps be sublimating my nervousness over possibly wrecking the delivery car into a more general sleeplessness? It's ironic, as thus far when I'm actually in the car I seem to be doing fine, and I want to drive it more—I have a pretty good confidence level, though I know I need to watch myself. But the sleep problem is not making things easy. Maybe after a few more days I'll be better.

The line is moving now. Shouldn't be too much longer.
Well, that was interesting. I got two glazed doughnuts, which I had eaten almost before I was out of the parking lot, and two filled ones, for tomorrow's breakfast. On reflection, I wish I'd gotten a couple more glazed, too. They really do seem to melt in your mouth, though I'm not sure how much of that is due to the quality of the doughnut itself and how much is just from the fact that they're served warm. Baked goods taste quite different when warm than from when they cool.

Time to try going back to bed...

Another day, another...something. I went up to the Open Book used bookstore on Commercial Street and spent the last of that $31 tip money on some books—a few by A.E. van Vogt, another copy of Sorcerer's Stone to bookcross, a Vance, a hardcover of The Demolished Man, the fourth Great Brain book, The Great Brain at the Academy—sort of the anti-Harry Potter—and the first Lemony Snicket book, which I'd been intending to find some way to read. I really didn't have enough money to pay for the books, but the bookstore lady cut me a great deal on them. I think my QuikDine job is going to be great for Bookcrossing...I'm going to be whizzing all over town anyway, so I might as well sling a book here and there.

Watched the premiere of Birds of Prey tonight. It was interesting, and a decent superhero take. I have a few odd quibbles here and there, but all things considered, the show did a good job. I may have to try to remember to catch it more often.

I'm hoping I don't get another attack of insomnia tonight. I feel a little tired now, and I think that may be a good sign. I need to do everything I can to try to get a decent night's sleep. Maybe a hot bath, some soothing herbal tea...I've got to get a decent night of sleep sometime, don't I?
