Seen on [livejournal.com profile] zonereyrie and [livejournal.com profile] gamera_spinning's LJs, and probably soon to be all over my friends list...so what the heck, I'll beat the rush. Someone's come up with an amusingly twisted "between the lines" reading of Star Wars IV: A New Hope.

I have to admit, I love the whole idea of "Chewbacca, superspy."

That's brilliant...

That's brilliant.

And the fact that both R2 and Chewbacca need interpreters to speak -- but clearly understand Human Standard -- means that they're both at considerably less risk of capture and interrogation, and they're less likely to be identified as spies in the first place.

And of course, both Han and C-3PO make great front men, because they draw so much of the attention and difficulty.

I'm trying to think of a moment when this pattern breaks down during Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi, but I'm drawing a blank.
