Date: 2006-12-16 12:40 pm (UTC)And the fact that both R2 and Chewbacca need interpreters to speak -- but clearly understand Human Standard -- means that they're both at considerably less risk of capture and interrogation, and they're less likely to be identified as spies in the first place.
And of course, both Han and C-3PO make great front men, because they draw so much of the attention and difficulty.
I'm trying to think of a moment when this pattern breaks down during Empire Strikes Back or Return of the Jedi, but I'm drawing a blank.
