We need a new holiday in April or May...
Nov. 30th, 2014 08:28 pmI think it's terribly unfair that the only holiday feasts that traditionally involve turkey and dressing (aka "stuffing") are clustered together at the end of the year. There's Thanksgiving and there's Christmas, and that's it. If you have a large family, you might end up at three, four, maybe even half a dozen or more turkey fĂȘtes in the course of a bit over a month. And that's not even counting all the leftovers. Even if you love turkey and dressing, you can get sick of it after that much in that short a time. But then, after it's done, you don't get it again for another 11 months.
I propose we should create another holiday in April or May, a sort of anti-Thanksgiving (a "Pleasetaking," if you will) where we could have a big old turkey and dressing meal to break the drought of several months without, and tide us over for the several more months 'til Thanksgiving. Who's with me?
