My one-year anniversary – huzzah!

I'd completely forgotten that today is the one year anniversary of my hire date at TeleTech. What a year it's been! I went from desperately watching the last of my financial reserves slip away to grasping at the straw of a call center job—not only something I swore up and down I'd never do again, after MCI, but working in the exact same building as I did in those halcyon days—to finding I'm actually pretty darned good at the work and find it fulfilling some fraction of the time. Not that it's something I want to do for the rest of my life or anything, but still.

Today, out of the blue, my supervisor surprised me with…a celebratory lapel pin, which will be going on my jacket right next to my MCI one as soon as I can order more locking lapel pin fasteners. And it brought back amusing memories of that MCI anniversary pin, which I was awarded along with a fulsome letter telling me how much MCI looked forward to celebrating future anniversaries with me…not long after we all got the word we were all going to be laid off shortly.

Fortunately, there's no danger of that right now. (Though we are having to go through a rather annoying schedule change at work that means I won't be able to keep both Saturday and Sunday as weekend days off if I want to keep working the same 12-8:30 schedule I have now.)
