Status Report

So here I am, in the hospital. Trying this for second time, because the dictation program crashed and took the Lodger Winfrey I was riding with it. How annoying.

After my operation was moved back from 9:45 AM to 11:45 AM, I made arrangements with Uncle Denis to pick me up at 11. We then came down to the hospital. We had a little trouble finding the place, because of some confusing entrance names, but we got me check in and in a hospital room waiting for the operation with plenty of time to spare.

The nurse had a little bit of trouble finding my vein to put the IV in; it took her two tries. After that, it was a three hour away before they were ready to operate. As usual, I don't remember the last moment I was conscious – but boy do I remember waking up in a lot of pain.

After I screamed for pain medication, we eventually got it under control, and they move me out to my permanent – or at least overnight – hospital room. I got some water and some Jell-O to try to keep down, and some painkiller tablets.

So now I'm in a splint and Ace bandage again, semi-reclined with my arm propped up to keep it over the level of my heart. It's not hurting too badly now, but the really aggravating part is the itching. With the old splint I was able to scratch under it with a knitting needle to some extent, but since this one has dressings on my surgery under it they want to be extra careful and not get any contact in there that could spread infection. It's really maddening.

Apart from that, I'm generally okay. I have my iPad here, and I am entering this through Dragon dictation. It's not quite as good as the version on my desktop or laptop, but in my condition, and in my position, I don't think I could work with a laptop, so it's just as well I just have the iPad.

Anyway, I seem to be doing okay with the Jell-O, so perhaps in a bit I will buzz the nurse and see if I can try something a little bit more substantial. Right now, I'm going to go back to this post and correct all the little instances where the dictation didn't take right. And then I'll post it to the journal, and then you'll read it, as you are right now.

Later!

Oof. Continued sympathies, and I hope you're able to recover quickly.

Sorry about the lost Lodger Winfrey. ;)

May an exhausted cute idol singer drop into your bed for a nap.

I'm glad things went reasonably well, and am sending good thoughts in your direction.

Get well soon.
