I have just been working with Windows's speech recognition system, giving it some additional training and improving its accuracy. I think I've gotten it to the point where it works almost as well as typing did for me now, which is really pretty seriously impressive.
The only problem is that it doesn't seem to be working with some of the programs I would like to use it for. It's nice that I can write to journal entries, and probably blog entries too, with it, but I would like to be able to use it in my X window application, so I can use it for the online chatting that I do, as well.
Still, the fact that it works at all is pretty impressive when you get right down to it. This means I can at least express myself in blogging and social networking as easily as I could when my left arm still worked properly.
