The mixed blessing that is Google Reader
Feb. 26th, 2010 02:03 amGoogle Reader is such a mixed blessing.
Since I started using it a few weeks ago, I've been amazed by how useful it has been for keeping track of stories on all my favorite websites. Now I literally never miss a story, and I only have to remember to check one site daily instead of several. I don't even trawl Techmeme anymore since all Techmeme's stories wind up in my RSS box.
On the other hand…I literally never miss a story, and I hadn't really realized before that between all the websites I follow, that adds up to at least several hundred stories per day. Sometimes I feel like I'm a slave to my RSS reader, that I have to keep clearing out stories or I'll fall behind!
(It's also annoying that all the shared stories and comments are more or less duplicated in Buzz, but that's a minor thing.)
