The Return Trip

We finally got in to see the doctor, at about 1:15. At least, that's when we got into the examination room. It took another half an hour for the doctor to get in to see us. What he had to say was basically about what we expected: "You're doing great. Keep on doing that."
At about 2:00 we got on the road to the Chinese restaurant where we met my Mom's sister Robbie for lunch. We split two entrees between the four of us, plus soup and crab rangoon or egg roll. We didn't leave hungry.
It was about 3:00 before we got on the road out of town. Mom & Dad decided to take a different route back than our usual, heading west (where I got some great photos of ice floes in the Missouri River at Booneville) and then south, passing through Sedalia where, Dad told me, he and Mom spent their first married night at a Holiday Inn, paying just under $6 for the stay. They talked about various places that they remembered from driving through there in the past. "That house didn't have any trees by it last time we were here, remember? We thought it looked funny?" (The house in question now had several rather large trees next to it.)
Just north of Warsaw, I checked Google Maps on a whim, and found that it recommended taking 83 south to Bolivar rather than going down 65 as they had intended. Dad didn't have any great attachment to the route he was going, and thought it sounded interesting, so we headed that way. We ended up being quite glad we did—it was a well-maintained, very scenic two-lane road, there was hardly any traffic (we only met a few cars between Warsaw and Bolivar, and didn't encounter any going the same direction), and there was a gorgeous view of the partly-iced over Harry S. Truman Resorvoir and other nice wintry scenery. The road was a little icy in just a couple of places, but not enough to be a hazard.
At the moment, it's about 5:00 and we are in the car, still travelling south on 83 as it gets darker outside. Mom is trying to take pictures of the sunset with her digital camera and doing a pretty good job. I'm enjoying the fact that I was able to charge my laptop up fully at the hospital, first in viewing the photos I took of Truman Reservoir and then of writing this LJ post, for posting after I get home and have wifi again. I may even twitpic some of my better shots and insert them as illustrations to this post. (Though, of course, if I did, you've already noticed that.)
Guess I'll save and write more after I get home, or perhaps sooner if something else interesting happens first.
Got home about 7:15, and the parents moved on after dropping me off. Checked my email, noodled on the net some, tried to upload photos from my desktop and was unable. Probably need to reboot it or something. Or rip out Windows by the throat and reinstall, but to do that I think I'm going to need to buy a terabyte hard drive to back everything up onto. Files just keep expanding to fill every available space after all. Ended up putting the pics on a jumpdrive and uploading them from my laptop, where they went zippity-zoom.
Stupidly, I left my canvas bag on the sofa, and the cat peed on it. Damn cat.
Anyway, here I am, relaxing and listening to music on my computer while I sit on the couch with my laptop finishing this up. Boy am I tired. Time to add the pics and post it.
