Cat-astrophic expenses
Jul. 1st, 2008 07:33 pmWell, my cat just ran up a total of $600 in veterinary expenses today.
I had known she'd been sick for a while, had just been kind of hoping she'd get better, but she didn't, so I finally took her into the vet. Turns out she has severe anemia, and a blood transfusion and possible oxygen treatment are indicated, as well as a course of treatment with tetracyclene. I hope she pulls through.
A more pragmatic person (like my parents) would probably just have had her put to sleep and counted themselves financially better off, but…well, she's really the only live companionship I have a lot of the time, and I think she's still got a couple of good years left in her if she makes it through tonight.
If anyone wanted to kick in some money toward the treatment, it would be greatly appreciated. I don't normally ask for help in this sort of thing, but nothing's too good for Gumdrop. My paypal address is robotech (at) eyrie.org.
