More action on the jobsearch front
May. 12th, 2004 05:57 pmWell, I got a message on my cellphone's voicemail today from the Alltel operation in Salina, KS, where I'd applied for an Internet support position. I called back and returned the telephone tag, suggesting on the VM of the person who called me that she call between 10 and 11 a.m. tomorrow. I don't think I'm really interested, as I see Salina is farther from K.C. than I'd thought when I applied, but it won't hurt to talk to them.
In other news, my cube-neighbor is starting to see signs behind every corner that we may be leaving a bit earlier than June 30th. We had that visit from the unemployment dept. people I recounted yesterday; also, she has seen a big pile of boxes in one of the training rooms that is supposedly going to be used to allow us to clean out our desks. And, she declares triumphantly, as if it provides the final proof, nobody's been asked if we want to work for bonus holiday hours on Memorial Day, which we should have been asked by now if we were interested and it was going to be available. Things that make you go hmm.
Not like it's really a big deal either way...we're still going to get paid up until June 30th, plus the six weeks' severance...so if it does end up happening, I won't worry about it. I'll just have some extra time to noodle around and play on the Internet, that's all—or I can start work with whatever new employer I choose that much earlier.
Wish my brother's friend would hurry up and call me, though.
