First day with my new phone. I got to play with it quite a bit, between calls...sending AIM messages, emails, and phone text messages. Learned a good deal about the phone through experimentation; I still have yet to read the instruction manual for it. It's a great phone, and one of the very best things about it, I feel, is that it lets me read the stories posted at Slashdot while I'm still at my work desk. I'm in geek heaven. :)

Quite coincidentally, I got a call today from an old college friend...one of the people I sometimes worried about, given that he wasn't exactly the most emotionally stable sort. He seems to be doing all right; he's on permanent disability (for mental health problems, I guess), so he doesn't actually have a job, or have to work; he just has to worry about taking his medicine. We talked for a while, and he promised to get over to my place some weekend so we could watch movies.

Toward the end of the work shift, I started sending some text messages to the cellphone of my cousin Philip, and he responded, and after work I called him and we talked for half an hour or so. He's a cool guy, and a great synthesizer musician, but somehow I've never gotten into the habit of communicating with him all that often. Maybe that'll change. I also called my grandfather, a World War II vet, to wish him a happy Veteran's Day.

Spent the evening watching a bit of Silverado, then Hell Freezes Over again. It's amazing how good that Eagles concert DVD sounds in DTS 5.1. It's a whole different experience from when I watched it in just stereo.

Anyway, I really should get to bed. Remember, my invitation to text me still stands! (And please include either an email address or phone number for me to reply...)
