Girding loins for battle...
Jul. 9th, 2002 12:45 pmWell, I'm going to head out jobhunting again today...though for a slightly different type of job. Another part-time one, either to make 40 hours a week between it and my Kmart job, or simply to replace my Kmart job altogether if it pays higher. My folks are right...if I can't get hired on for what I'm educated to do, I can surely at least parley my three years of retail experience into a second retail job.
And as I'm preparing to go out and face the world, I've come to a realization. The thing I hate the most about jobhunting, and which may be unconsciously keeping me from doing more of it, is...I hate filling out applications. It seems like such a waste of effort--they all want almost all of the exact same things...and odds are they're just going to roundfile it anyway. If there were only some sort of "universal job application" thing, where you could fill it all out only once, and the potential employers could pull down all that information into their one application...things would be so much easier all around.
Sigh. Well, off to face the world. At least maybe I'll sleep easier tonight knowing I've done something "productive" in the job search. Yeah right.
