Well, getting ready to head out to the plasma center so they can have a quart of straw-colored fluid and I can have twenty bucks. I think I've got a handle on this thing now. I just have to wait enough time after drinking a lot of water for most of it to pass through my system, then I don't have to worry as much about, ahem, discomfort while I'm sitting there with the tube in my arm for an hour or so.

To my dismay, I've put on about twenty pounds since last I donated regularly. It's annoying because it means I have to donate more plasma, but it's somehow disquieting in a more general way, too. I'm having to buy larger pairs of jeans, and hating it. All my life, I've been used to being able to eat whatever I wanted and never going much over 165 pounds. Here I am at 185, and it's finally starting to get through to me that I've got to cut down if I don't want to end up with a pronounced pot belly. I suppose that's how it is...when we're young, we think we're invincible. Then when we get older, we find out we're not. Sigh. If I can ever get a decent job so I can afford it, I swear I'll join a fitness club and work out every week.

Last night, I put a Gameboy emulator on my Clie. Phoinix, it's called. It doesn't have sound, and it only runs about 75% of speed even overclocked to 37 MHz, but it's free. Perhaps I'll upgrade to Liberty when I have money again. Anyway, I now have Pokemon Yellow on my Clie. The button configuration isn't the best for playing action-type games, but for something like Pokemon, where it's all moving around and selecting options on menus, it'll work well enough.

It's kind of funny, when I think about it. In the novel Fallen Angels by Niven et al, whch posited a near-future authoritarian government that frowned on reading, especially of science fiction, one of the ideas the fandom resistance had was to turn the Gameboy into a sort of covert PDA/e-book. Now I've done exactly the opposite--turned my PDA/e-book reader into a covert Gameboy.
