Now, as the son of librarians and an avowed bibliophile myself, I think that this website is a pretty darned neat idea. It's kind of like that Where's George thing that tracks dollar bills by their serial numbers--except in this case, it tracks books.

The deal is that you take a book you've read and liked, go to the website and register it by ISBN and get a special serial number identifier to mark it, then release it into the wild--leave it somewhere for someone else to find and read. They can then go back to the website and comment on it, and pass the book on to someone else.

I think this is a pretty neat idea, and it might be a cool thing to do with some of the Baen Free Library and Webscription books I've bought to compensate the author monetarily, while preferring to keep the e-versions for myself. It's sort of like making the world your lending library.

Yes, I think I'm going to have to try that, sooner or later.

See the books I've read on my Bookshelf at BookCrossing.com...
Okay, I think I like this BookCrossing thing. I've already registered six books, and now I go to find some more! And to print out the labels to paste into the covers. Yay!
