Keep on circulating the...books?
Mar. 19th, 2002 12:26 pmNow, as the son of librarians and an avowed bibliophile myself, I think that this website is a pretty darned neat idea. It's kind of like that Where's George thing that tracks dollar bills by their serial numbers--except in this case, it tracks books.
The deal is that you take a book you've read and liked, go to the website and register it by ISBN and get a special serial number identifier to mark it, then release it into the wild--leave it somewhere for someone else to find and read. They can then go back to the website and comment on it, and pass the book on to someone else.
I think this is a pretty neat idea, and it might be a cool thing to do with some of the Baen Free Library and Webscription books I've bought to compensate the author monetarily, while preferring to keep the e-versions for myself. It's sort of like making the world your lending library.
