There should be a law against having to get up before ten a.m.

And speaking of laws, I'm going about getting ready for jury duty--hoping that I can get out of it somehow, but not holding my breath. As a sort of last resort I went looking on the web and found this little bit of information. I seem to recall hearing somewhere that courts don't like jurors who are fully informed of their power to make decisions of law as well as fact. Maybe this'll let me get to go home.

But again, I'm not holding my breath.

I showed up this morning at 9 a.m. at the courthouse, after dashing down to the grocery for donuts, dashing back to my apartment for the jury slip, and dashing up to the courthouse after I realized the one I'd been going to was the wrong one. Then ten minutes of looking for a parking place. Then I went through the metal detector. When I finally got into the jury room, they told me the trial had been settled this morning--between my phoning to check the recording last night and my actual showing up.

After all that, I almost feel a little cheated at being sent home. But not quite. :)
