Acetaminophen vs. Ibuprofen

Here's the brief version: Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory like aspirin. Take it when you want to reduce inflammation. Acetaminophen is a pain reliever (analgesic) like morphine. Take it when you want to reduce the feeling of pain. Alternate when you want to reduce inflammation and pain.

Don't take anything for a fever below about 102F without consulting with your physician. A fever triggers your body's infection-fighting mechanisms. Unnecessarily reducing the fever can be counter-productive. Contact your physician or local emergency room for fevers above 102F and follow their directions.
