Joplin thoughts
May. 27th, 2011 10:20 pmTomorrow I'll be heading west along I-44 to visit the chiropractor in Carthage. After my visit, I'm thinking I might head on over to Joplin to see what I can see of the devastation. Don't know how close I'll be able to get; it's possible that the police will have the area cordoned off, so I doubt I can actually get into it.
But I want to get at least some kind of look at the devastation in person. You just can't experience that sort of thing from pictures. It's not going to feel real to me until I've seen it in person.
In one of those odd little coincidences life hands you sometimes, I got a call from someone in Joplin on the phone today at work. I expressed my hopes that he and his family had come through OK, and he said they had, though his father had lost his business. He said he was just thankful they were all alive.
I would be too.
