robotech_masterSo here I am, getting ready for bed on the first day of two partial and one full days I'm staying this weekend. This morning I got a call letting me know that someone had dropped out of the study so I moved up from first alternate to a full-fledged study participant. That's good because I'm definitely going to need that money. The car repairs and attendant financial ripples dropped a few hundred dollars back on my card, but I should be able to get it all taken off before the end of this statement, with the help of that extra money from the study.
I hadn't really realized just how far into debt I'd gotten by the time I got the job, but the trickiness of paying stuff back while still managing to live on my income is certainly bringing it home. But with a little luck and a lot of hard work, I'm inching back toward the black. If nothing else, I guess the fact that I am managing to live on what I'm earning while paying off the debts means that I'll have a decent amount of disposable income once they get paid off. The short-term ones, anyway. I'm going to be paying my student loans for a while.
For this study, I brought along my 5.1 surround speakers and my laptop, thinking that I might somehow be able to set up in one of the small examination rooms and create a sort of mini-movie theater—especially if someone brought in an HDTV and I could convince them to let me use it. But it turns out that this is a fairly small study with no major equipment bringers except me, and they didn't let me set up in a room. I should have just taken the speakers back to the room, I guess. It's not as if I'll be able to use them without other study participants objecting. I suppose I harbored some faint hope that I might get some people to watch some movies with me.
Anyway, time to crash. They'll be getting us up way too early in the morning.
