NBC is a company which makes money by attempting to grab and keep control of information that we want to see, so they can use that access to sell advertising. In doing so, they create a model of "us" which is based on their collective self-delusion.
NASA is a government agency performing a public service to us and to all of humanity, and it is absolutely not to their benefit in any way to restrict, slow, or censor the information coming from the very expensive Mars ventures. They know this based not only on a better model of "us" but also on the collective philosophy and ethic of service to humanity.
When ABC had the Olympic coverage franchise in the 1970s, they had a view very like that of NASA. NBC, however, are hats made of purest unwashed ass.
