Here are the things I am willing to confess to having done today:

  • 07:16 Going around towns with my Dad #
  • 08:33 What's worse than finding no movies you want in the $5 bin at Walmart? Finding too many. #
  • 08:41 Superman Returns, The Fifth Element, Ever After. After some deliberation, decided just to go with Superman. #
  • 08:55 Ha! Superman Returns rang up for $20 but they corrected it to $5. I'll bet it was just the fullscreen version that was supposed to be $5. #
  • 08:57 I found that one widescreen among a bunch of fullscreen copies. Bet it was misplaced and the pricechecker didn't know the difference. #
  • 09:16 twitpic.com/2pvtu - Distressed candy #
  • 09:26 I bought 5 lbs of crumbled peanut butter and chocolate bunnies for $5. Go me. #
  • 09:30 @doctorow the Amazon and Mobipocket situation I mentioned in BB comments about your last column. Will Amazon show its monopolistic colors? #
  • 09:47 @doctorow If Amazon stops licensing Mobi DRM to its competitors it could damage the entire non-Kindle ebook market. And why shouldn't they? #
  • 10:09 twitpic.com/2py0g - Cassville public library #
  • 10:09 Cassville has a decent public library. Internet access but no wifi. @wifiguy maybe you should call them with a bid. #
  • 11:07 twitpic.com/2q0qq - Methodist casserole lunch #
  • 11:26 Good lunch. I am suffused with pleasant feelings toward my fellow man. Or maybe just coffee. #
  • 11:35 twitpic.com/2q27f - Sandy Cullers, my old HS librarian #
  • 12:02 @BlueTyson Being called names hasn't stopped Amazon from doing bad things in the past. One-click patent. Used book sales. Etc. #
  • 12:04 @brendankennedy Yes. But it's being made into an M. Night Shyamalan live-action movie. (Cartoon review: bit.ly/utUAw) #
  • 12:28 @BlueTyson The Authors Guild whined at them about it. Unlike with the text-to-speech thing, they didn't back down on that one. #
  • 12:33 twitpic.com/2q564 - Ozark sunrise #
  • 12:45 @HenryMelton I hate living life on the EDGE. #
  • 12:55 I am going to be totally sick of chocolate and peanut butter before very long, I can just tell. #
  • 13:06 Are there any "Animal Crossing"-like communication-based games for the iPhone? tinyurl.com/ca262y #
  • 13:57 #airbender I wanted to believe casting was based on talent, that the most talented person of any race was cast. #
  • 13:58 #airbender But when I hear that the casting call was for people who were "caucasian, or any other race" it makes that hard to do. #
  • 17:19 Awesome photo of one of the filming locations for the #Airbender movie: bit.ly/rtvYz #
  • 19:44 @tweetdeck Why on earth does right-click/copy URL put an "event:" on the front of it? Can that be disabled? #
  • 20:17 #TeleRead latest: Copyfights of the night: www.teleread.org/2009/04/02/copyfights-of-the-night #
  • 20:20 @philipjay31 Yes, Airbender movie, really. Just do a twitter search on "Airbender" to find people talking about it. #
  • 21:40 Don't forget to protest most of the VAs in the #Airbender animated series being white, with just a handful of ethnic Asians like Mako. #
  • 21:43 In fact, the only Asian VAs in the regular voice cast were Dante Basco & Mako. Zuko & Iroh. The villains. #airbender #
  • 21:47 @bamfbamf #airbender Yeah. How dare they cast white actors in roles voiced by white actors in the animated series? #
  • 21:50 @bamfbamf How dare they actually have an overall HIGHER percentage of Asian actors in their cast than the animated series did? #airbender #
  • 21:56 @bamfbamf I'm not necessarily thrilled about some of the things I'm hearing...the casting call for "caucasian or any race" thing. But... #
  • 21:58 @bamfbamf ...it feels like a double-standard when you consider the animated show was conceived by a couple of white guys. #
  • 21:59 @bamfbamf And so many of the voices were white, including famous people like Mark Hamil, Clancy Brown, etc. #
  • 22:01 @bamfbamf The show is based on Asian culture in general, not any specific nation. Elements are drawn from some, but only elements. #
  • 22:02 @bamfbamf There are Caucasian peoples in Asia, too, you know. (Ainu, etc.) #
  • 22:03 @LeDoctor I think some of the "racist" comments go too far, but so does calling the complainers "uninformed and without merit." #
  • 22:05 @LeDoctor I think that some of the complainers ARE well-informed, and some of the complaints arguably do have merit. #
  • 22:06 @LeDoctor It would be nice to see some official response, given the long history Hollywood has of mistreating Asian roles in cinema. #
  • 22:10 @bamfbamf I'm not entirely happy with the casting of the movie either, and would like to see response beyond "uninformed & misguided." #
  • 22:12 @bamfbamf But I still have to wonder where all these protests were when the animated series was being made. #
  • 22:13 @NeverExpla1n Hi, Robotech_Master from ficlets. Are you aware of ficly.com and the Ficlets archive at ficlets.ficly.com? #
  • 22:17 @bamfbamf By the way, Inuit are the Eskimo people. Intuit is the company that makes TurboTax. #
  • 22:23 @bamfbamf Actually, many of the characters in Robotech *were* white, given the multinational nature of the UN forces. #
  • 22:27 @bamfbamf Actually, "Rick Hunter" was "Hikaru Ichijo" in Macross. He became Rick Yamato in the Macross dub, then Rick Hunter in Robotech. #
  • 22:28 @demiurgent I am...so, so sorry. #
  • 22:30 Crashing out. Zzz. #
  • 22:35 @racebending @bamfbamf Agreed. Too much haranguing makes them look better and you look like a bunch of frothing crazies. #
  • 22:44 @SpringfieldCVB wasn't too bad 60 miles sw of #sgf either. (see twitpic earlier today) #
  • 22:58 @demiurgent Sorry, you're not allowed to have a "pretty nice" experience in NJ. The cliché police will be around to arrest you shortly.  #
