Tweets for Today
Mar. 13th, 2009 12:04 amHere are the things I am willing to confess to having done today:
- 04:52 Ten til five. In just a few minutes they'll be yanking me out of this nice warm bed to go have my leg cut open. I hear them moving now. #
- 05:07 Good thing I'm forbidden breakfast. Wouldn't be able to do it justice anyway. #
- 05:08 All ready to go. Just waiting on my parents to be. #
- 05:10 Parents relentlessly having toast and jelly in front of me. #
- 05:16 Heading out to the car. Away we go. #
- 05:30 And we drive onward, toward my date with destiny. Or at least surgery. Not as nervous now, maybe because there's not much point. #
- 05:37 Just a few more miles to the hospital. Parents dispensing what they consider to be helpful advice. Get me under that knife, PLEASE. #
- 05:46 Here at the hospital, checking in.
bit.ly/thpNz # - 06:06 Changed into gown. Quite a feeling to know you just took off the last full pants you'll wear for six months. #
- 06:12 They just threw my worn-out old leg brace away. It's been with me so long, I kind of have mixed feelings about that. #
- 06:14 They're going to get my parents now. #
- 06:21 Parents are here now. Had Mom take some pre-op photos of me. The waiting is annoying. #
- 06:29 Anaesthesiologist here with paperwork. #
- 06:34 Anaesthesiologist needs to get all my information again. Dad venting spleen on incompetence of hospital. #
- 06:37 Parents conversing with anaesthesiologist. #
- 06:42 Anaesthesiologist: "I think I know enough about you to give you powerful drugs now." #
- 06:49 They're poking a needle in my left arm now. #
- 06:53 The IV is fixed in my left hand. But I can still use it for twitter. #
- 06:54 A doctor just scribbled on my leg. Good that they're marking the right one. #
- 07:00 Doctor went over consent form with me and wandered off again. #
- 07:06 I'm told they're making the room ready for me. #
- 07:08 Dad observes, "You can't throw a rock without hitting a doctor." #
- 07:09 They're ready for me. "The rest is silence." #
- 19:48 Just so people know: I'm alive. #
