I got the DVD of Wall-E today as a belated Christmas present from a friend.

Both disc 1 and disc 2 are giving me problems when I try to play them in PowerDVD on my computer. Disc 1 played to the menu once, then wouldn't let me load it again; it gave me some kind of weird stuttering error and digital noise on the screen the one time I got part of it to play. (It wouldn't play for me in VLC or MediaPlayerClassic either.)

Disc 2 seemed to load and play all right the first time, but it gave me some weird digital noise on the screen, in the shadows. When I quit to the menu to try to play it again, it gave me the same sort of error as disc 1: the copyright warning screens appeared, then froze as the sound was this weird stuttering robotic noise (I think it was the menu background sound, but stuttering).

It might be that I need to reboot; I got a virtual memory error earlier. I'll try that tomorrow, as well as other DVD players.

But has anyone else experienced anything like this? If so, was it fixed by replacing the disc?

I would not be surprised if this is part of a DRM attempt to keep you from being able to rip the movie.
