An angel came down…
Nov. 29th, 2008 01:42 pmI have a reason to be glad the Christmas season approaches.
The Trans Siberian Orchestra. I like their Christmas albums. Especially "Christmas Eve and Other Stories," which I feel has to be one of the finest Christmas albums ever.
I like to think that the voices of the angels are heard by everybody not just in their own speech, but in their own idiom. This album is Christmas music in my idiom. It's not those same annoying carols that are overplayed relentlessly every year until they lose all meaning. It's some gorgeous prog-rock renditions and rearrangements and quotations of the old favorites. These are songs I'm glad I can listen to when Christmas comes around—they remind me of what Christmas is supposed to mean.
It's too bad my parents think they're just noise. :P
