In other words, rather than trying multiple paths (the other ingredients), AVG's approach to making their omelet is to break as many eggs as possible. So you get a lot of broken eggs and a crappy omelet. The quoted person is trying to advocate that AVG shift its attempts to a variety of tools and break fewer eggs.

According to the article the link-scanner is only part of the paid product. I'll happily continue to use the free version without qualms.
