Doctor Who: Silence in the Library
Jun. 1st, 2008 11:40 pmAll of this is IMO, of course, but…
Those of you on my friends list who've given up on the current Doctor Who?
You might want to check out this week's. Steven "The Girl in the Fireplace" Moffat, the guy that will be stepping into the driver's seat in 2010, kicks it old-school, with a seriously creepy episode that recalls some of the best adventures of previous Doctors. It has a few moments of weakness—there's an bit near the middle that seems unnecessarily maudlin at the time, recalling the ending of that "Titanic" Christmas episode—but it turns out that's just there as a "Chekhov's Gun" to set up something even more creepy at the ending.
You know the "Mummy's Tomb" style episodes from the old days? It's one of those. And there are some other awesome bits that I'm not going to spoil ahead of time.
Oh, and it's part one of two. Don't hate me for the cliffhanger.
