I've just noticed that Pepsi is doing their PepsiStuff promotion again. This means that there's a ten letter code on the inside of Pepsi product bottle lids. You can redeem them for prizes: five for a free Amazon mp3, 60 for a CD, 90 for a DVD, etc.
This brings back memories. The last time they did a "stuff" promotion, I was at college—and it occurred to me that it was a Pepsi campus, with lots of 16 oz vending machines around in the various classroom buildings, and lots of wastebaskets…and unless there's some kind of instantly-redeemable prize under the lid (like a free drink), people tend to screw the bottle caps back onto the empty bottles and pitch them. So, you do the math.
I ended up with a number of goodies: DVDs of West Side Story and the Jackie Chan movie Gorgeous, a Mt. Dew micro-maglite (which I promptly lost), a Mt. Dew courier bag, and the big prize: a 16-megabyte RIO 600 mp3 player. That player cost 255 bottlecap codes, so you can see just how much effort I put into my trashcan-diving runs. Too bad they aren't giving away any of that kind of thing now.
I may eventually do a campus scavenge run or two for old time's sake, but I figured I might as well also ask here: if any of you are Pepsi drinkers who don't plan to bother with collecting codes, could you post your codes here instead? I'm thinking of saving up for a DVD or two…
(Comments screened so's I'm the only one who'll see any codes. :)
