Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride

In the name of love
What more in the name of love

40 years ago today, the Reverend Martin Luther King was assassinated.

What would our world have been like if he had lived?

I would love to ask that question to the first African-American President. The fact that it is even a possibility is incredibly meaningful, but we still have a long way to go.

Not the least of which is finding a patriotic African-American that wants to be president and uphold the values of the framers of the constitution, rather than abandon them for collectivism. I would have to say that MLKJ would be still looking, still fighting, still speaking out. He'd be ashamed of Jeremiah Wright's open hatred. He'd be proud of the progress made, yet still unsatisfied and would be pushing for more equality. He'd probably also be aligned with Bill Cosby in confronting black parents for not taking a more active role in making sure their kids finish school. I'd suspect he'd be agast to see that after winning the battle to get the kids in the schools, the parents aren't fighting to make sure their kids stay in school.
