Nov. 21st, 2007 09:34 amWell, last night my friend Sandy trucked all the parts for the computer down to Metagames, the gaming shop where the gaming group meets on Tuesdays, and Kyle from the gaming group and James from the tech support department of my day job came down there and banged it together. It took them a couple of hours to do it, and there were a couple of minor snafus involving cables that couldn't reach far enough, but all in all it went together remarkably easily.
However, the Windows installation CD I had brought with me turned out not to be a bootable CD—so I had to be satisfied with the Ubuntu LiveCD I'd brought until we could take it back to my place and I could try another installer.
By the time Windows had been installed and a few drivers thrown on, it was nearly midnight, and I had to crash for the last day of work. I am greatly looking forward to being done with work this evening so I can go home and throw the rest of the drivers on, add my favorite games and multimedia applications, and generally get everything fixed the way I want it. And I can't wait to see what that 22" wide monitor looks like…
