Not on the list are a case—the one I'd been planning on doubled in price between last time I looked at it and now, and I haven't found a new one yet; hoping for something in the $30 range—and a hard drive, as I'm transplanting the 80 gig drive I have now. I may also choose to kick in some more money for an 8800GT instead of an 8600GTS if the price falls by $50 or so between now and then.

The plan is to place the order around the 16th, so that the parts will arrive by Thanksgiving Wednesday, and have the four-day weekend to assemble it and play with it.

Anyone see anything wrong with these specs? Any alternatives to suggest?

Look at Tiger Direct. They do a lot of special deals where you can get a combination of stuff at really close to cost.

Hmm. Looks promising, but I was aiming toward something in mini-ATX to make carting it to and from BioKinetic easier.

Well, you should have *said* that. ;) This case is the one I got for my machine, and it's really good at keeping everything cool. To the point it's generally cool to the touch. But yeah, it is a full-sized tower.
