This morning started at about 8:00 a.m. when Sandy, Crissy, and Emma drove up in their Ford SUV and we nipped off down to the farmers' market at the Battlefield Mall. I got my Gerber multitool's knife blade and scissors professionally sharpened, and also bought a bottle of genuine raw honey with a honeycomb inside.

Then we went out to the Meadows subdivision west of town for their yearly garage sale day. Visited about 40 garage sales; Sandy and Crissy found some worthwhile stuff, and even I found a thing or two. A couple of funny finds: a very sharp longsword for $10 (and if I'd had $10 I might have bought it), and one guy sitting in front of his garage with a couple of dozen English-translation Shonen Jump manga-zine phonebooks and a few Dr. Slump phonebooks spread out in front of him—and nobody whatsoever interested. (We suggested eBay or Craigslist.)

Then we headed back into town to stop at the salvage grocery on West Kearney where I picked up a few things, and then hit a couple more places before heading back to drop my groceries off. Then we headed over to Crissy's parents' place for a dip in their pool. I quite enjoyed myself, and it looks like it will become a regular thing; I'll have to see about picking up an air mattress for future use there.

They dropped me off back home at about 3:30, and I noodled around on the Internet for a couple of hours before heading back over for dinner. I had donated a bottle of St. James Winery's blackberry wine that I picked up at the grocery store the other day, and was curious to see how it would taste; Sandy and Crissy made a Chinese stir-fry dinner which was very good. The wine was very blackberryish, and definitely more of a dessert wine than a table wine.

While there, I also picked up a couple of packages: the copies of The Tomorrow Log and Hellspark I had ordered from Steve Miller (which I plan to save for reading during the evening I'm spending over at BioKinetics next weekend), and the eight months of Frontline Plus I got from eBay. Interestingly, instead of the usual break-open pouch applicators, this Frontline Plus came in the form of eight needleless syringes. I guess they buy the fluid in bulk and make up the doses themselves. Well, I don't care how it comes as long as it works; in fact, I think a syringe might actually work better for applying the stuff than those annoying little break-opens.

Also in the box was a .3 ounce bag of catnip—and as soon as I opened the package, one of Sandy and Crissy's cats was all, "Meow? Meow?" and over there like a shot sniffing at the packaging. Heh.

After dinner, Emma wanted to go swimming again, so I headed home to unwind and contemplate things, and here I am.

It's 9:30, so I'm going to go to bed now. Funny how easy it's been to get used to going to bed earlier. I think I may actually sleep better this way given that the sun doesn't rise halfway through my sleep cycle anymore. Something to think about.
