Afternoon update

Here I am at work, posting a brief journal entry on my second break of the day while my iPod streams tunez into my ears. I have to admit that it's certainly a tranquil job, and it has some nice small-scale perks, such as a breakroom with free coffee plus tea bags and hot cocoa, cappucino, hot cider, etc. drink mix packets. The entering of the numbers is mighty monotonous, but at least I'm fairly good at it.

I've pretty much decided I'm going to use $500-$600 of the money I get for next month's Biokinetics medical study to get me some kind of motorscooter or motorcycle. I can get along without a car, by and large, and I can certainly get along without the high insurance premiums even a junker car will run me, but the bus takes 45 minutes to get me to work. My bike only takes 15, but that's no good for if it's raining. At least a scooter or motorcycle would minimize my exposure-time to the weather, and a motorcycle would also give me mobility enough to go visit my friend tbutler in K.C. or go to job interviews in K.C. or Saint Louis. The only problem is, I know very little about what makes a good motorcycle or scooter

Toward that end, I am hoping to enlist the aid of my Uncle Denis, who used to ride a motorcycle all the time. In fact, there's a story going around in my family about how he was once cycling from Springfield, Missouri to Denver when he ran off the road and broke his leg somewhere in mid-Kansas. Rather than have to be hospitalized half a state away from home, he turned around the motorcycle and rode it all the way back to Springfield before going to the hospital for treatment. Now, granted, the story doesn't exactly make me sanguine about the safety of motorcycling, but perhaps I can get by with being more careful.

In other news, my friend Sandy has picked up a couple of 320 gig external hard drives from Tiger Direct for $99 each. He'll sell me one at cost (and buy another for himself) when/if he comes over Thursday, so I'll be able to back up my windows drive and reformat and reinstall Windows onto it. That will definitely be a big help.

Well, break almost over. Time to get back to work. 1 hour 45 minutes 'til freedom…

You need something which has an engine size of at least 150cc, any smaller and it won't be able to accelerate fast enough to get you out of trouble.

If you haven't ridden a bike before I also wouldn't go over 300cc cos they start to get real tricky to handle then :) Move up to 500cc plus once you've had about a year of the small bike.
