Happy Believe-Nothing-You-Read-On-The-Internet Day

Ever since getting on the Internet, I have loathed April Fool's Day.

It's the day that everyone thinks it's funny to come up with some outrageous hoax. Now, granted, the ones that don't even try to be believable can be kind of funny sometimes. But I absolutely hate the ones that are just plausible enough that you believe them, and perhaps even pass them on to other people. I've been burned by that before.

Worse, AFD posts can hang around, unremarked, well past April 1, so the gullible might see them later on and not realize they need to check the date.

What prompted this? I was almost fooled by my first AFD story of the year just now.

Bleah.

What's worse is that there are some, otherwise trustworthy sources of information, who go out of their way to invent bigger and bigger whoppers for April 1st. So I hear you.

Well, don't just leave us to figure out which one, point it out!
