Nature abhors a vacuum, but how does it feel about a vacuum cleaner?
Well, today I finished cleaning off the floor, and vacuumed, first with a bright yellow Eureka "The Boss" bagless upright, and then with a handheld Dirt Devil to get into the hard-to-reach spots under my desk. Ended up with enough dusty cat hair to make an entirely new albeit very dusty cat.
Also went through my CD cases and retrieved all the DVDs I'd stuck in them for use at the BioKinetic medical center, re-cased them, and put them in alphabetical order in my video shelf. I've acquired so many DVDs that they're slowly but surely pushing out all of the VHS tapes that had formerly occupied a large portion of my second DVD shelf. I need to get another shelf or something—maybe a short one to fit under the table I'm using to put my TV and first DVD shelf on. Until then, I think my VHS tapes are going to end up in a box.
Tomorrow I need to spend most of the day working on the kitchen, as it is still a huge mess. I'll leave the bathroom for last, because it's the quickest but also the most demoralizing.
Still, it's nice to have all my DVDs arranged neatly. It reminds me of some DVDs that I've watched a long time ago but not recently, such as Tokyo Raiders, or that I've not yet watched at all, such as Millenium Actress. I really should get around to watching more of these someday; it's just that lately I find myself wanting to have someone else to watch stuff with. Maybe I'll get that chance sometime soon.
Going to see This Is Spinal Tap at the Landers tomorrow night with my new friend Sandy, the West Coast expatriate I've been mentioning. Hopefully he will be impressed by how clean I have managed to make my room when he picks me up. (And hopefully he won't look in the bathroom. :P )
