Spent the day cleaning up my room, filling about three bags full of trash, as well as a couple of bags of aluminum cans. I haven't quite decided what I want to do with them; someone threw away the plastic bin I was using as a recycling bin, so I don't have an easy solution for placing them out for the can guy to take. Out of curiosity, I called a local salvage place to ask, and based on what my postage scale tells me an empty can weighs, they're actually worth about two cents each. Which really isn't enough to make me want to put in the effort to try to haul them downtown, but it's interesting to know what they're worth anyway.

Maybe tomorrow I can work on the kitchen, including doing all the dishes that sit soaking in old dishwater in the sink. My goal is to have the whole place clean enough to have guests by next week, in the hope of having Sandy and Crissy Clark, the California expatriates who've come to Springfield looking for work. If I keep cleaning steadily, maybe I can get it done by then.

It'll be great to have someone over to watch anime with, even if only for a little while.

Of course, before that happens, I should really sweep up all the kitty litter and mop the bathroom floor...

If you get some clear plastic bags, you should be able to just put them on the curb.

I think clear plastic bags are the default way of handling recycling by businesses & large organizations, so it's accepted at the local level on occasion.

I don't know if Springfield even has a recycling program, though. The "recycling bin" I had was for a guy who came by every so often on a bike hauling a trailer which he used to carry cans he scrounged from dumpsters and other such places. I don't think the city does one.

Ah, I see.

Well, the clear bag would work for the can scrounging guy too...

As would a phone call to City Hall to check on their recycling or lack thereof.

(Sorry, I'm a recycling maniac.)
