So I saw this advertisement in the webclips area of my gmail, and I clicked on it just out of curiosity.

But wow, what I found

Introducing the CodeFinder 'Millennium Edition' Bible Code Software

CodeFinder Millennium Edition is simply the world's fastest and most powerful Bible Code Software. It is the Bible Code Software of choice for many newcomers and experts alike and is the subject of many presentations in TV documentaries and books about the Bible Code.

Is there anyone out there who is, for one moment, capable of taking this stuff seriously?

Some of the Bible Codes discovered with CodeFinder

Conspiracy theories a go-go!

And looking at some of the examples given for the software, it shows the English text of the Bible chapters in question, laid out like one of those word-find puzzles where you're supposed to circle the hidden words that may be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal amid fields of random letters. I can't help thinking that if someone were leaving hidden messages in the Bible that could be found by reading it vertically or whatever, they would be found in the original language version, not created magically by lining letters up from one of many English translations.

People will believe what they want to believe, I suppose.

What do you mean, "original language version?" Everyone knows that's the King James version, right?

Right?

...

right?

I suppose that the Committee that translated the King James's version must have been divinely inspired to make lots of word puzzles to mislead modern conspiracy theorists. Which could only have happened because God forsaw the Conspiracy Theory.

A friend of mine once completely flummoxed a pair of Jehovah's Witnesses by listening to their Bible quotes, then muttering, "That isn't the same in my Bible," and inviting them in to check. Then she pulled out her original demotic Greek New Testament and asked them if they wished her to translate...

She got put on a lot of "Do not call at this house," lists by that tactic.

The Bible and all its Correct Translations are Divinely Inspired and the Word of God. So God's Messages will be hidden in whatever version you choose to let the program loose on.
