It's good to be home.

Just got up from the first sleep I've had in my own place in six days. It was a good night's sleep.

Checking the Springfield News-Leader, I see that 15,000 of the 107,000 area residents served by the local power company are still without power—and it could be next Friday before they all have it again. Wow.

The second day of the interview was an all-day affair; they had me come into the office to do more documentation, and at the end of it I got to ask my questions. I would be lying if I said it wasn't a bit tiring, but it was also fascinating. I learned a few new things, and saw more of what a neat place it would be to have a job. I was taken out to eat at Chevy's, a Mexican restaurant where a big sign proudly boasted of everything being made as fresh as fresh could be. It was very good, and very filling.

After the interview ended, at 8 p.m., Aaron and I swung back by his in-laws' house where we were staying, grabbed my stuff, and then headed out of town. We went to the drive-through at a roast beef sandwich restaurant called The Lion's Choice (don't ask me why a lion would choose to eat roast beef sandwiches, I couldn't tell you), and talked pleasantly on the way to Springfield. He dropped me off at about midnight, then headed to his Republic home to meet the wife and kids. They're all going to be moving up to St. Charles in a couple of weeks; I'll miss having them around here—unless, of course, I'm moving up to St. Charles soon too.

I gave Aaron my CD of the R.O.D. the TV soundtrack vol. 1 before he left, as I watched the first four episodes of it with him during the visit and he quite enjoyed it. If I end up moving to St. Charles we'll be watching the rest of it. I really want to re-watch the complete series with him; I haven't watched it for myself in quite some time either. I could do it again—but I want my second viewing of it to be with him. It's such a great show that I think all the plot twists should be re-experienced together.

Also when I got home, I found that my copy of Universalis had arrived; I'm looking forward to reading it.

Anyway, now that I'm back, I think I will download and clean up the Chase Masterson interview this afternoon, read Universalis, and prepare for the Peter S. Beagle interview on Friday. Will post more as events warrant.

It's good to hear that your pipes didn't freeze and that the cat didn't sell all your stuff.

There's warnings about yet another one headed your way.

It could be worse: someone could have named the storm in your honor, like they did the one that's hammered/hammering Germany.
