Squeeeeee!
Dec. 12th, 2006 02:31 pmI just got off VOIP with Diane Duane, all the way over in Ireland.
Assuming her Internet connection permits (it's satellite and can be interrupted by heavy weather), she's going to join me for the talk radio show I'm planning on hosting on Saturday afternoon, for discussion of the "Storyteller's Bowl" model of serial publication based on the article I wrote on the subject.

Date: 2006-12-16 09:29 pm (UTC)It would be interesting to get Tad Williams' input on this stuff, too. As I recall, he did something similar in 2001 with _Shadowmarch_... somewhat unsuccessfully. However, he'd made a huge production out of it -- hired animators for the website and whatnot. I suspect recouping that kind of investment would have been difficult, whereas simply using his existing website, had that been feasible, would have made things much easier. Giving the project a separate website, new URL to remember, etc. probably didn't help. It was also a new world, not a series continuation, and everyone here mentioned that the existing series fanbase was an important factor in making their projects feasible.
Of course, Tad went off and sold _Shadowmarch_ to his regular publisher, and all ended well (as far as I know).
