A couple left homeless by Katrina who begged for help were given a $75,000 house by a kindly church.

Without even occupying it, they promptly turned around and sold it for $88,000.

If the story is true, and exactly as reported then it strikes me as remarkably naive on the part of the church. 'Giving' a house of that size to two of only the thousands of people involved was asking for trouble. However, being a total cynic I do wonder whether at least part of the objective was for the church (and the realator) to gain exactly the sort of publicity that it has.
