I might as well take my shoes off. My feet are not going to be touching the ground for the rest of the day.

I wrote some City of Heroes fanfiction, and posted it on the roleplaying forum of the Pinnacle server group RP Congress—one of whose members is the acclaimed fantasy novelist (and one of my favorite writers) Mercedes Lackey.

And today I noticed a response: Mercedes Lackey called it "utterly charming!!"

One of my favorite novelists praised something I wrote!

Yeah, I know she's an ordinary person just like any of the rest of us; the fact that she's a successful novelist doesn't make her the Arbiter of What Is Good or anything like that. But I'm thrilled to know that I managed to give some enjoyment in some small way to someone who has written so many things that I have loved to read.
