Well, I've just updated my essay journal for the first time in a long time. Updated it with two posts, in fact. One a review of an old TV show I watched lately, and the other with some startling news I just learned about new developments for The Last Unicorn and why I'm totally stunned by them.

Today I had to send my free iPod back to Apple for them to work on the earphone jack; it seems to have developed a fault. Hopefully they'll get it back to me quickly, before I go stir-crazy from lack of music.

I need to go find something to eat now. Maybe I'll write more later.

Corrected the URL. Should have known better than to post when hungry. Go to the link and you can find out now. :)

Oh wow... a sequel? Heck I didn't even know the DVD was out. You think it will be available at local bookstores? Audiobooks and I don't get on, my mind wanders too badly for them. Thanks for this, I've loved that book for a good many years. My aunt bought me a hardback copy when I was... well I won't say how old i was when it came out but I treasured it. Got the old video tape and the soundtrack on record. Yeah, taht'll date me, owning records...lol

Thanks again :)

Well, I gather it's not so much a sequel novel as a novella—because it's going to be published in Fantasy & Science Fiction Magazine this fall. So it'll appear in an anthology magazine, not a bookstore per se. There's a little further info here (http://www.nightshadebooks.com/discus/messages/378/4183.html?1113661909#POST71843). (And you won't even have to buy the magazine to be able to read it; F&SF is one of those magazines that is full-text indexed in the EBSCOhost magazine index service; check your local public library to see if it's available.)

I like audiobooks...when I listen to them, I know that I hear every word of a story and don't skim over bits of it in the read. (I'm bad for skimming.) And for only $40 for the CD set, this one is a real bargain. ($40 for 7 CDs? That's less than $6 per CD!)

If you don't have the German DVD yet, well, it would be worth getting a region-free DVD player that can convert PAL to NTSC (or using a computer player with a region hack) just to see it. (You know Christopher Lee voices King Haggard in both the English and the German audio tracks? Amazing.)

I used to hava DVD player that could od the conversion but it died and I can't get a replacement locally that is affordable. Maybe I could convince my new computer to be accomidating - or not. Lost a lot of the left-brained action after the wreck and it is still not online yet. Damn, and Christopher Lee is good. Schmendrick the Magician is still the best, followed only by the one eyed kitchen cat.

Made a note of the magazne and the anticipated release date and will try to snag a copy - if all else fails I'll get a subscriotion. It will be worth it. You ever read Beagle's "Tamsin"? Loved it too. Totally a different feel than the Unicorn but still awesome.

Thanks again.

I've read a few things by Beagle, but not that particular one.

Interestingly enough, Two Hearts isn't necessarily the first not-quite-sequel to The Last Unicorn Beagle has written. There's a fairly strong indication that one of the characters in The Innkeeper's Song is someone we've met under another name...
