The Grind Completes

First off, to catch you up, the second week of the medical study was pretty much the same as the first one, with the exception that I didn't get breakfast Saturday. But I discovered that I hardly noticed the loss...too busy gaming. I finished Halo 2 and fumed at the ending; I got to see some good movies including Cellular and I, Robot (yes, it was a good movie); got to play a couple of mine too.

Anyway, since that time I've been grinding away at City of Heroes, with the help of some friends there...and last night it finally paid off. With a lot of help from my friends, my City of Heroes character Purramedic finally made it to level 50, the max level possible in City of Heroes. It took a long, long time...goodness only knows how many hours of play it ended up being altogether. But now she's stopped gaining experience...and do you know, I already miss the grind? :)

I can't overstate what an accomplishment this is. Probably 95% or more of the people who play CoH—at least, that percentage of the players who aren't 1-50 powerlevellers—will never reach this level. Certainly none of my online friends have reached it, and many of them don't really expect to. I'll admit that I did get powerlevelled some...but that was just because a team-oriented Empie can't do it very well on her own, and I was sick of relying on groups all the time.

Anyway, now that I've sacrificed Purramedic's L40-50 content on the altar of powerlevelling, I get to move on to my other characters, who will progress in a more leisurely fashion and not miss out. Including the squids (Kheldians), who I will be making as soon as I get home. I can hardly wait.

Yeah, the ending to Halo 2 sucked big time. I mean, honestly, they weren't going to fool anyone by offering better resolution into thinking that there wouldn't be a Halo 3.
