You know, when asked how your day was at work, not everybody can say, "Oh, something exploded." But that's how it was.

Oh, the explosion wasn't anywhere near me...but due to the distributed nature of the world via the Internet, it affected me just the same—or, rather, it affected my employer. Seems there was an explosion under Baltimore City Hall, and due to the necessary power shutdowns mandated by fire marshals, it knocked out many of our websites for the day (along with zillions of other peoples'). I wonder what caused it?

Basically, all day we were pounded with phone calls from people, asking, "Dude, where's my website?" And my boss had to go to a meeting from 11:30 to about 2, meaning that not only did I have to push back my morning break, I couldn't go to lunch until 2 in the afternoon. By this point, it was simplest just to take the whole hour all at once, so that's what I did.

At least my stock is up with my boss for the cool, efficient way in which I fielded customers calling in. He was mucho impressed by my skill in handling the calls. Not bad at all. Definitely wearing, though.

wow! You were fortunate that the damage was just limited to that area. If it went unchecked for a longer period of time it could ahve been devastating. How long until things are back to normal?
