What a remarkably weird movie...
Aug. 14th, 2004 11:00 pmMy parents and I watched The Triplets of Belleville tonight. None of us had any idea what to expect...I had been careful to go into the movie unspoiled.
I'm not sure what I was expecting. Something like The Rescuers, I guess. Some kind of straightforward "grandmother with nowhere else to turn gets in touch with some old singing buddies of hers" type of story.
Boy was I wrong, both in terms of plot and expectations. By the time I was five minutes into it, I was going, "...um. This may be entirely too weird." By the time I was fifteen minutes into it, I was sure that it was entirely too weird...but I liked it that way.
To say anything more about it would be a spoiler...but it's a totally one-of-a-kind movie that should not be missed.
I'll probably put something about it up on my essay journal at some point. Now, I gotta sleep.
