Banal day

Busy, if somewhat banal, day. Let's see, how'd it start...

Got up about 9 a.m., and cleaned out the fridge and freezer to defrost, tossing out all the food in the freezer (shouldn't take chances) and the already-opened stuff in the fridge. The one exception was that I put the chicken noodle soup I made the other night, and some of my condiment bottles, in a styrofoam cooler with ice packs in the hope they'd stay cool until the fridge is fixed tonight.

After that, headed out to do a little shopping. I wanted a better Rubbermaid-style tub to serve as a kitty litter box—something with foot-high walls to prevent "velocilitter" scattering itself all over the bathroom floor. Didn't find anything at Oscodrug, but did find something good at Kmart, along with some cheap DVDs for later amusement. Bought some cat food at Petsmart, but later had to take it back & exchange it because the vet recommended another brand.

After that, hit the vet to pick up Gumdrop, and her medicine. To my somewhat less-than-delight, the first thing she did on the way home was to make a big nasty poop in her car carrier, then smear her paws through it, so she ended up smearing it all over my pants and shirt when I took her out of the dirty carrier. Oh well, at least it shows she doesn't have dihorrea anymore.

The pet food the vet recommended, Science Diet or Iam's, was more expensive than I was accustomed to getting...but if the doctor orders it, then I guess I really should get it for the cat's sake. (Besides, as a Christian, I must admit there's something appealing about a brand of pet food spelled "I-A-M". :)

Got the cat home, washed out the cat carrier with bleach, and set out the recommended food in the recommended proportions. The cat seemed to enjoy it, eating more than she had in the past...she seems to be back to something near her old self again, which is good.

After that, I fiddled around with a satellite speaker stand system I got at Target at the same time as the lapdesk, but soon found I'll have to take it back—the little holes for the speaker wires to go through aren't big enough to admit the plugs on my speakers. Oh well. I also ran out to a small used-clothing store near me and picked up a couple of pairs of pants suitable for work.

Since getting home from that, I've been sitting in bed with my laptop and lapdesk (and lap) balancing my checkbook, paying a couple of needful bills, filling out a thank-you card to Aunt Becky, and making an appointment to have my car serviced Wed. morning at a service center near my folks' residence.

Now I'm just waiting for the appliance tech to show up sometime this evening and fix my fridge and maybe my stove. Probably be at least a couple hours 'til he gets here, though. Guess I might as well just sit here and relax until then.
