I didn't end up taking any of my food home from the freezer yesterday, but I did go over to the old place to put some unfrozen food back in (since it looked like I wouldn't be able to get the stuff for a while) and to put some lightbulbs in to replace burned-out or taken-with-me bulbs. Saw the old neighbors, and also saw Lee, one of the fellows who had helped us move the heavy stuff out of my old place. He seemed slightly dazed, and in the conversation that followed he indicated he was a drug-user. Pretty sad, really; he'd seemed so clean-cut the day before when he'd helped in the move. Anyway, I gave him a lift of a few blocks to his own apartments, then headed back home.

Training today went okay. Got another 90-minute lunch, so I used it to head back over to the old place and snag that food from the freezer, and also get the mail which I'd forgotten to do the night before. It was with mixed feelings (well, if you can call feelings of about 95% incredible relief and 5% "other" "mixed") that I took my last ever look around that place before locking the door. God willing, I'll never have to see its interior again.

Just as training was getting out today, thunder rumbled, the clouds parted, and a genuine downpour began. I dallied at the public-use computers to write this entry. However, I'm mildly worried...I can't seem to access my home Linux box with the browser, which I usually do when I'm at these stations to check my email. Hope it didn't get hit by lightning or something.

Anyway, I'm now going to dash through the rain to my car, swing by Kmart to pick up a few needful things, then head home. Maybe I'll also swing by a flea market or two and see what I can do toward picking up some small tables or shelves and lamps and things. Depends on the weather and how I feel at the time.
