Sometimes the universe works in distinctly weird ways.

I met the first of my next door neighbors yesterday—and it turned out I knew the guy already! His name's Stephen Zondver (or maybe Zonver), and he lives directly across the driveway from me. He's a really nice guy; I was in a jobseeking class with him down at the state job center a couple of months ago. Funny that I should not only meet him again but end up moving in across the street from him.

Didn't sleep too well last night; I had gone down to the store and picked up another set of fitted sheets, since my current one has holes worn in it from the mattress of the bed that's now in my guest room. Picked up a nice 220-thread-count set for me, and a 180-count contour sheet for the guest bed (matching the color of the bedsheet that came with the now hole-worn-through contour sheet I'm replacing). The thing I forgot was, you have to wash new sheets before you can use them. I spent a very scratchy night, and finally ended up getting up a couple of hours early. I did put the time to good use, though, transferring clothes from the busted-up old chest of drawers in the guest room into the fancy new one in my bedroom. I've just about finished the job now, as well as packed up all the winter clothes I can find to send home next time I have a chance. (I hardly think I'm going to need four pairs of long johns in this weather.)

Gumdrop seems to be adopting reasonably well to being an indoor cat. She's using the litter box without any trouble (though it is kind of annoying that she tracks litter onto the bathroom floor when she exits) and she seems to be adapting to her surroundings. I need to brush her again, though, to try to cut down on the shedding. (I wonder what groomers charge around here for feline buzz cuts?)

Drowsed through training at work, kept awake (barely) by coffee nearly strong enough to stand a spoon in (they make some very good coffee down at MCI). Since I got an hour and a half lunch, I headed down to the post office to put in a change-of-address form, then over to the next-door Wal-Mart to pick up a couple of necessary items, then over to Joe Moore's to see if he was home and drop off a note exhorting him to call me—along with a spare apartment key and a copy of the Aldenata CD-ROM—the CD bound into the back of one of Baen's latest hardcovers, the copying and sharing of which is explicitly permitted. (In fact, the ISO of that CD is currently available for BitTorrent download at f.scarywater.net, though the transfer rate will be a bit slow since I'm the only seed at the moment.)

After work, came back home to finish doing the clothes transfer, and to greet Aaron in passing as he finished his restoration work on the freezer. (It looks so much bigger now that the base of it isn't all bowed up.) In a bit, I'll take a load or two of laundry—consisting mainly of sheets & contour sheets—down to the nearby laundromat for washing, and head over to the old apartment to finish a few things while it's working. I need to replace a few burned-out bulbs, and transfer the frozen food from there to here.

Or maybe I'll just give the laundry a miss, considering the lateness of the hour.

After that, it should be just about time to get in bed. *sigh*
